Dry Creek Abseil Adventure

Dry Creek is an awesome little outdoor adventure area in the deepest darkest part of....the Hutt. HangDog has a concession from DOC that enables us to lead groups up into the back reaches of the area.

The Walk

By walking, also known as "bush bashing", up a private path our qualified guide can lead you to the top of the stream.

The Canyoning

Here is where the real fun begins. Jump into a wet suit and we're away. Slipping and sliding down the stream. Leaping into pools. Pushing the bounds of regular city slickers. Maybe a water fight. Then everyone stops and stares down to the depths of the waterfall.

The Abseil

The waterfall may only be 8m but that's enough. Lowering yourself backwards over a cliff always gives the students a great buzz. Their guide will have taught them everything they need to know by now so they can abseil themselves down the cliff with ease (and with a little safety support from our guide).

The exit

A relaxed walk down the stream to the parking lot and we are done.

In addition to the basic Dry Creek Abseil Adventure, there are several other activities that can be performed in the Dry Creek area.

• Rock Climbing on the natural rock wall at Dry Creek provides a great way to introduce students to real outdoor rock climbing. Our instructors can teach them everything they need to know about safety and climbing. Then if they are keen they can have a go.
• Team Building activities are a great way for students to bond at the start of the school year. Our trained staff can provide all sorts of activities to gel the classes together.
• ABL Activities can really promote a student's confidence.

Details

• Dry Creek is located near the bottom of Haywards Hill.
• Arrange your own transport to and from Dry Creek.
• The students will need a complete change of clothes as they will get completely wet.
• Sturdy shoes are a must.
• All other equipment (wet suits, helmets, etc..) is provided.
• This is not an intense workout so most students are capable and will have fun doing it.
